HMH is looking for a seasoned marketing expert to join our growing Demand Generation team. The Director, Demand Center will help oversee the strategy, operations, systems, and analysis to enable effective, scalable demand generation programs. Reporting to the VP of Demand Generation, this individual will support the measurement and improvement of marketing’s contribution to revenue through optimization in marketing systems, data, and process, and by leveraging the marketing tech stack to its fullest capabilities.

The Director, Demand Center will collaborate with a team of Demand Gen marketers, as well as cross-functional business partners (Rev Ops, IT, Sales, Channel Marketing, etc.) to ensure our marketing campaigns are trackable, measurable, and optimized to increase marketing contribution to revenue.

This position will require expertise in analyzing customer engagement data, market trends, and sales/business insights to help inform cohesive, multi-channel marketing campaigns that unearths and drives demand that results in revenue.


  • Oversee end-to-end demand funnel; Work with Rev Ops, IT and Sales to optimize lead management processes, including lead scoring and lead routing, to effectively track and improve marketing contribution to revenue
  • Lead cross-functional scrum team (including Demand Gen, Rev Ops and Sales) responsible for the development of the marketing operations and demand funnel roadmap, serving as Agile Product Owner – manage Jira board, define stories, manage backlog, etc.
  • Manage roadmap of operational enhancements to demand generation capabilities
  • Ensure marketing tech stack effectively tracks online and off-line customer activities to enable data-driven, customer-centric campaigns
  • Oversee marketing data standardization, optimization, and governance in concert with Rev Ops and IT partners
  • Work with Rev Ops partners to manage and improve marketing dashboards and reporting, including the development of more advanced attribution models
  • Collaborate with internal teams to plan, execute, and measure A/B and multivariate tests related to conversion and UX optimizations
  • Conduct data analyses to inform demand generation strategies; Analyze customer engagement data, market trends, and sales/business insights to inform campaign plans
  • Continuously evaluate and identify improvements to marketing automation, lead management, and overall sales and marketing processes to improve marketing contribution to revenue
  • Manage documentation outlining Demand Gen processes and governance; Ensure processes are consistent, repeatable, and scalable
  • Evaluate and drive the implementation of tools and technology to enable campaign innovation in collaboration with Rev Ops and IT (e.g. account-based marketing, attribution modeling, personalization, etc.)



  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field or equivalent work experience. 
  • At least five years of demand generation operations, marketing operations or marketing insights experience
  • Experience leading a team
  • Hands-on experience with marketing automation platforms such as Eloqua, Pardot, HubSpot or Marketo (Eloqua preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with
  • Experience with Google Analytics and BI tools
  • Experience with Jira and Agile project management
  • Strong analytical skills, data analysis, A/B testing, and reporting
  • Deep understanding of the demand funnel, lead management, lead scoring, and marketing data management
  • Self-starter who excels at multitasking and thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and shift workload to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communicator and creative thinker with an ability to use data to inform decisions

Physical Requirements

  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via conference calls, online meetings, and face-to-face.

Benefits and Salary Range


  • Salary Range: $112,000 to $150,000 + bonus. Our salary ranges are based on national averages.  We have wide ranges so we can be flexible and determine compensation based on a number of factors including the candidate’s skills, experience, education and location.
