HMH is looking for a Content Analyst within the Intellectual Property Systems Management (IPSM) team. Overall, this person will support the activities with the Enterprise Development Strategy & Services (EDS&S) and IPSM teams that continuously improve the quality of rights data and rights toolsets. This role aids in the implementation of best practices around tool designs, data collection & storage, and reporting for all of lines of business supported by EDS&S. This role supports systems- and data integrity that drive rights lifecycle review, rights compliance, and rights standards; contributes to IP tool requirements, development, and maintenance to support evolving business needs; and participates in various data cleansing, reporting enhancements, and special rights data related projects as needed.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Content & Rights Data Management:

  • Executes planned data integration, migration, and cleansing projects that advance quality and efficiencies for the department and enable accurate IP management and reporting.
  • Supports vendor partners on data initiatives through project launch preparations, training, quality feedback, and escalation resolution.
  • Contributes to creation and execution of critical project/initiative documentation, including but not limited to training and process documents.
  • Supports the administrators of EDS&S rights-related applications with a focus on the Rights Management System (RMS/HOTS).

 

Analysis and Automation:

  • Performs complex analysis on rights-related data to support business needs, including a focus on proactive adherence to copyright obligations.
  • Maintains data integrity in IP rights systems to ensure accurate permissions and compliance reporting at every stage in product lifecycle.
  • Supports communications across EDS&S Services to keep all stakeholders well-informed of IP application and IP data standard changes.
  • Collaborates with IP Systems Management team to implement technical, tool, process, and data solutions that improve efficiency and accuracy for EDS&S Services, including home-grown applications.
  • Participates in defining and implementing custom solutions to support our business.

 

Operational Efficiency

  • Leverages data-driven KPIs to recommend and support courses of action that lead to continuous improvement across IP Systems team.
  • Contributes to ensuring quality standards for outside vendors and internal teams are defined, well-articulated and adhered to.
  • Supports project retrospectives within IP Systems Management to identify and document successes and/or gaps in procedures
  • Contributes to the review of processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and efficacy; escalates issues or problems; provides valid solutions where possible.
  • Provides data and training support to end-users and project team members, escalating technical issues as needed.

 

Other

  • Stays up to date with industry standards, current information industry processes and technologies.
  • Performs any and all tasks required to support department and company goals.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing)
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings
  • Travel to meetings and conferences as needed (less than 10%)

 

 

Education & Experience:

 

Required:

  • BS/BA in related discipline
  • 1-3 years of related industry or functional experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.  Verbal and written communication must be professional, comprehensive, clear, direct, and accurate.
  • Comfortable with technology and familiar with MS Office applications:  Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
  • High level of organization; ability to manage and prioritize several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to respond and contribute to evolving processes and changing environments.
  • Working knowledge of metadata practices & standards.
  • Ability to work independently and be able to work as a member of a diverse group.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills to offer solutions.
  • Exercise sound judgment to identify and quickly escalate critical issues, including work capacity, to managers.
  • Respond to urgent requests in a positive and professional manner, using solid customer service values

 

Preferred:

  • BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Working knowledge of Access and/or SQL.
  • Understand the fundamentals of print and/or digital publishing processes, educational technology, contracts, and data management processes.
  • Experience with application development and project life cycle process.
