The Senior Product Marketing Manager for World Languages creates the go-to-market strategy and provides ongoing promotion of HMH’s core, comprehensive World Language programs. The Senior Product Marketing Manager for K-12 World Languages works with the Director to conceptualize and then execute the go-to-market strategy of HMH’s World Languages portfolio, owning these programs end-to-end, including existing and new programs in the product development pipeline. In this role, the Senior Marketing Manager recommends marketing and promotional plans for World Languages based on articulated launch strategies. Implementing plans, tracking and monitoring project progress via roadmaps and data, and flexibly course-correcting as needed is central to this role. Being proactive by staying current on pedagogical, policy, and market segment trends that inform strategic decisions is also expected.  

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create a brand experience that engages and influences customers through personalized connections that address their interests and needs, ultimately converting mindshare into market share. Connect our brands with customers and drive business results by blending strategy, creative thinking, original content, technology, and data analysis.  Based on launch strategy, recommend customer-centric marketing and promotional plans for World Languages.  Implement plans as directed, and monitor progress to existing marketing plans.

Take initiative and assume end-to-end product ownership in order to strategically consider market issues and trends that inform marketing plans. Implement the go-to-market strategy for assigned products by creating and maintaining distinctive and compelling collateral and content for all marketing channels. Partner with Director to identify and modify product promotional strategies and sales cases as appropriate. As directed, implement strategic marketing communication tasks and projects. Represent World Language products as a Subject Matter Expert when collaborating with or training cross-functional teams.

Maintain strong, ongoing channels of communication with sales, marketing, and product development teams to ensure success. Develop strong and cohesive relationships with internal product marketing colleagues, regularly sharing strategies and collaborating on problem solving in ways that leverage growth. 

Maintain strong relationships with sales teams to ensure integrity in the Sales process with the core message and positioning of assigned products. Provide training, strategic advice for key sales opportunities, and presentation development support. Develop tools to support the selling process. Provide accurate and quick support for sales teams in order to drive revenue. Communicate the value proposition of solutions to the sales team. Continue to develop solid understandings of how districts adopt HMH World Language programs, including customer purchasing behavior, their purchase criteria, including the influence of current Curriculum Frameworks and Standards, and how to concisely articulate criteria coverage that connects to our programs, while eliciting and maintaining customer interest in the programs. Lead and promote product lines at national conferences in ways that drive customer engagement.

Continually refine spoken and written presentation skills. Ensure that the World Language core message is reflected in all promotional materials--print, oral, and digital, and assume ownership of the written content for all promo, crafting first drafts of content prior to submission with creative, in collaboration with the Director.

Use data to gauge effectiveness of marketing plans and promotional campaigns. Monitoring marketing and campaign plan implementation to ensure budgets and ROI targets are achieved.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

 

Required:

  • BS/BA in related discipline
  • 5+ years of related industry or functional experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an educator in a World Language, Bilingual, Dual Language, or EL/ELL/ELD/ESL setting, OR minimum of 5 years’ experience in educational publishing, within marketing, sales, editorial, consulting, or product management roles, with proven experience in creating and executing innovative marketing campaigns through multiple channels that drive demand

 

Preferred:

  • 7+ years’ experience
  • MA or M.Ed.
  • Spanish speaker

  • Self-starter: takes ownership, meets deadlines, exhibits deep understanding of the pedagogy, needs, and challenges faced by the language acquisition customer (students and educators), and is able to translate this understanding into customer-centric marketing strategies and deliverables

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to persuasively present our World Language programs to multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to balance the big picture and attention to detail

  • Proficient in document, spreadsheet, and presentation applications
     

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Travel required at least 5 times per year, possibly more during intensive periods of training or campaigns.
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing) for 4+ hours.
  • The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
