OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

Responsible for accurately performing maintenance activities for all company assets and equipment related to the safe and efficient operation of the facility, while maintaining company standards in safety, security, quality, and productivity. Responsible for working independently from both written and verbal instructions. Serves as the primary contact within the department for both internal and external customers. Will be required to be on-call/flexible as related to their work schedule to accommodate special projects, emergencies, and work shifts.

 

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILIES

·       Responsible for accurately performing maintenance activities for all company assets and equipment related to the safe and efficient operation of the facility

·       Preventative Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance and inspections of all company assets to assure they are working safely and efficiently.

·       Material Handling Equipment: Work with equipment vendor to assure that all material handling equipment is maintained and in safe operating order. Perform repairs as identified and within the scope of the operation.

·       Conveyor Systems: Perform inspections of conveyor belts and systems before and after daily start-up. Perform preventative maintenance and system repairs as required.

·       Storage Systems: Erect, replace and maintain all storage systems such as racks and shelving as required.

·       Fire Protection Systems: Perform scheduled inspections on fire protection systems which includes checking fire pumps, flushing sprinkler system, inspecting fire extinguishers, opening/closing PIV valves and insuring that the fire alarms are functional

·       Heating/Air Conditioning: Assist mechanics with inspection, maintenance, and repairing of heating and air conditioning systems as required.

·       Electrical: Perform basic electrical repairs and installations such as lighting fixtures, outlets, simple wiring, and electrical repairs to the conveyor systems.

·       Plumbing: Perform basic plumbing repairs as required.

·       Carpentry: Perform basic carpentry and painting as required.

·       Facility Grounds: Maintain the outside appearance of the facilty and the surrounding grounds to represent HMH as a company that prides itself on quality. Duties will include: collection of garbage, basic landscaping, and winter snow removal (if applicable).

·       Battery Changes: Complete battery changes as needed for powered industrial equipment.

·       Miscellaneous: maintains any and all related equipment as required to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the distribution facility.

Maintains company standards regarding safety and security

·       Maintains a clean, neat and orderly work area. Assists in maintaining the security of the warehouse.

·       Performs sanitary duties as required to insure a clean and safe work environment for all HMH employees. Operates floor scrubber.

·       Participates in all designated safety training and constantly adheres to all rules and regulations given during courses.

·       Complies with all warehouse safety rules, OSHA regulations and MSDS standards.

·       Must have the ability to learn the necessary skills, knowledge, abilities and behaviors for the purposes of cross training and job assignments in all departments.

·       Commits to stay current in understanding new industry technologies and/or new systems introduced to the facility.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

·       Minimum of two years of trade school or directly applicable training

·       Working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electricity, fire protection systems, conveyor systems, forklift mechanics, HVAC and the ability to read/understand electrical schematics and blueprints.

·       Takes responsibility for self and workload by completing projects/assignment within established department standards

·       Understand the importance of minimizing erros by maintaining accuracy of work within department standars/averages. Adhere to all production procedures and report/eliminate variances.

·       Maintains attendance points within limits. Manages occasional time effectively to ensure that needs/demands of facility are met.

·       Demonstrates the importance of protecting company assets by adhering to safety protocols and promoting safe practices. Reports unsafe practices, behaviors and conditions.

·       Assists others are needed, regardless of duty or assignment to ensure the demands of the facility are met. Accepts job assignments with positive attitude and treats all co-workers with utmost respect.

·       Takes the initiative to acknowledge issues/inefficiencies and provides possible solutions/suggestions.

·       Must be able to read and write in English, count accurately, do simple math, and write legibly.

·       Must be able to work overtime when business needs require.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

·       Must be capable of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.

·       Must be able to lift/push/carry up to 50 lbs frequently.

·       Must be able to work in extreme temperatures (hot and cold).

·       Must be able to work from variable heights while wearing a safety harness.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

·       High School/GED Equivalent

Preferred:

·       Technical certification or Associates degree

·       5-7 years of experience in related area of responsibility

·       Previous forklift experience

·       Familiar with material handling and radio frequency equipment is beneficial

·       Experience with a work order management system preferred.

·       Bilingual (Spanish)
