PLEASE NOTE: This is not a full time opportunity. The availability of work varies from month-to-month and is on an as-needed basis. This contingent position is paid by a third party payrolling vendor while the Consultant is providing services for HMH to HMH clients. 

We are looking for current/former leaders in education, located in the New York City area, with experience in teaching K-12 Mathematics to provide professional development services as well as continued support to districts via coaching.

Overall Responsibility: 

Math Solutions Consultants are master teachers (in the grade span of K-12) and are responsible for supporting mathematics instruction in some capacity, or are recently retired from teaching or supporting math instruction. The ideal candidate is available to facilitate throughout the school year and has extensive years of experience with implementing a problem‐solving approach to facilitating mathematics in their classrooms. This ideal candidate will also have extensive experience in delivering professional learning or working to improve mathematics instruction in their schools or districts and have been presenters at regional, state, and/or national mathematics conferences.

Primary Accountabilities:  

  • preparing for and facilitating professional learning courses, programs, and/or student centered coaching with teachers, coaches, and/or administrators
  • planning with and supporting other consultants with preparation and delivery of services
  • serving as a liaison between the site host and Math Solutions
  • communicating with Math Solutions clients and other team members in a professional and timely manner
  • completing and accurately filing comprehensive reports and documentation related to Math Solutions work
  • attending Math Solutions Consultant Retreats, participating in online professional learning sessions, and, when possible, attending Professional Learning Academies 

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Must have experience in facilitating adult learning
  • Must have superb planning and process skills
  • Must be able to travel and work in site host districts/schools
  • Must have year-round availability
  • Must be flexible and collaborate well with others and in teams
  • Must have strong typing and data entry skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 4 year college degree
  • Education background and teaching experience
  • Experience in working with educators and presenting to adults
  • Thorough knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel and MS Word

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must be available year-round for during the day, varying hours assignments with some overnights possible
  • Will need to be able to lift 5-30 lbs boxes
  • National travel may be required

*This is a home-based role with varying hours on a part-time/intermittent basis.
