Job Title: Financial Analyst

Role Summary
The Financial Analyst will provide analytical support to the HMH Professional Services team. Using data from various information systems, the Senior Financial Analyst will identify and communicate trends and variances in new orders, billings, net sales, cost of sales, operating expenses and capital expenses.

Primary Responsibilities


Pull data using various financial and operational information systems:
• Understand data elements available in these systems and provide insight and recommendations on what data to pull from
based on the team’s needs
• Integrate and organize detailed data into summary level reports
• Clearly communicate the data in reports and what it represents


Provide insightful financial analysis:
• Using system data, identify trends and variances to budgets, forecasts and prior years’ actual revenue &
• Communicate results to the appropriate team members in a clear and concise manner
• Support the development of executive level presentations utilizing findings from financial analysis performed

• Identify opportunities to improve business results through the analysis of financial and operational metrics


Support the budget, forecasting and long-range planning processes:
• Create templates for use by financial and non-financial managers including historic information as a guide and
appropriate controls to ensure data delivered is in line with expectations
• Integrate and analyze planning submissions from various sources


Deliver recurring and ad hoc reporting to Services team:
• Ensure all recurring reports are delivered to the appropriate recipients on time, all the time, while ensuring the
accuracy of reporting provided
• Support various ad hoc reporting and analysis requests


Drive process improvement:
• Identify efficiencies in data integration and distribution of information
• Recommend alternatives to improve current processes


Education & Experience


• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics

• 2 years of experience in a financial analysis role
• Highly self-motivated, with a team focused attitude
• Strong communication and listening skills
• Functional understanding of financial and operational business processes and reporting
• Ability to apply critical thinking to understand financial issues and downstream impacts of those issues
• Advanced knowledge Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn complex financial and information systems
• Experience integrating and analyzing large datasets


• Experience with SAP, and Microstrategies


Physical Requirements

Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).

The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
