Purpose of the Role:  Under the direction of the Senior Director of Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst position is responsible for producing a wide range of reports/insights/analytics and fulfilling ad-hoc requests for primarily the Revenue Operations team, as well as requests from other HMH groups.  Examples include financial analysis and operational support to product leads/lines of business and revenue operations leaders in order to optimize sales, revenue and EBITDA.  Reporting to the Senior Director Of Revenue Analysis, building relevant analysis and modeling for a range of analyses.  The Senior Analyst will collaborate between several functional areas ocross the organization (BI, POM, Sales, FP&A, Accounting, GSC, etc.) in order to drive consistent analysis across the organization.  The Senior Analyst will test the systems output of each implementation strategy for each LOB GTM strategy.  The position is also responsible for supporting cross-functional initiatives and preparing several ad hoc reports & dashboards critical for business management & operations. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Budgeting/Forecasting
    • Gather relevant inputs from sales, product lines of business and other key stakeholders
    • Utilize market model to assist in territory planning
    • Ensure sales and revenue targets are loaded in various systems consistently and accurately
    • Provide analysis to revops and LOB’s to assist with quarterly forecasts

 

  • Pipeline Reporting
    • Gather and compile pipeline data for operational decisions
    • Drive insights on predicting performance
    • Ensure alignment of view between stakeholders across the organization

 

  • Product Revenue Reporting
    • Produce monthly reports detailing performance across various portfolios
    • Track performance by sales region of various product groups

 

  • Ad hoc reporting/modeling:
    • Utilize various tools and reporting systems to gather data to drive key analysis
    • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization
    • Build analytical models to drive decisions

 

Requirements:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLookups, formulas) is required

 

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • SAP R/3, Business Warehouse, Business Planning and Consolidation Tool
  • Salesforce.com
  • SQL
  • Business Objects Explorer (or similar)
  • Microsoft Office Suite, including Access and Excel
  • BS in Business, Finance or Economics highly perfered

Education or Publishing background preferred

 

Physical Requirements

  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
  • The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls and online meetings.
