Day in the Life

As a Senior Designer for our professional services, you will act as a visual storyteller and builder of great digital experiences for teachers and leaders. You will help create new UI prototypes, documents, templates and channel specific graphics for Teacher’s Corner, and other initiatives on our teaching platform and social media community. As a Senior Designer, you are expected to meet the HMH Services brand aesthetics, employ strong typography, design, digital, multimedia, UI and composition skills.


Realistic Preview of Job:

  • Provides comprehensive designs for all online professional learning, managing their own time and meeting deadlines with little to no oversight.
  • Concepts and creates UI prototypes for updates and new features on our digital platforms, collaborating with engineering and UX teams.
  • Show deep understanding of our tools and instructional design blocks. Builds and socializes templates for asynchronous resources that other designers and instructional designers can use.
  • Participates in the Lean and Agile processes, providing suggestions on how to bring efficiencies to common efforts.
  • Supports and mentors contingent designers on how to adhere to current templates, processes and brand style


What You Need to be Successful (Required to perform this role)

  • 5 years of experience in Graphic Design
  • Experience designing for B2B solutions


Nice to Have (Preferred, but not necessary)

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Web design experience
  • Experience designing for B2B solutions in education publishing industry
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator; willingness and ability to create an elegant, designed “feel” in programs such as PPT and Word that were not written primarily as design vehicles
  • Expertise in UI design using Figma, digital channels and marketing
  • Speed and agility; ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure, developing creative design within tight deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills


Physical Requirements

  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
  • The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.


Benefits and Salary Range

Salary Range - $60,000 - $75,000
