<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Heinemann seeks an energetic, creative leader to transform Professional Development Services into an innovative provider of continuous teacher professional learning and development that leverages online and face-to-face learning experiences in a blended approach. The VP of Professional Development Services plays a critical role in building creative partnerships with Heinemann authors and thought leaders to offer coaching and consulting support for inspired and sustained professional learning and growth. In addition, the VP collaborates closely with colleagues across Heinemann to build capacity for innovation and growth and to advance Heinemann’s mission. This role reports to the EVP and General Manager and leads a team that facilitates delivery of the entire range of Heinemann’s PD services while achieving revenue and customer-satisfaction goals.  In addition, the VP of PD Services sits on Heinemann’s executive leadership team and contributes to the overarching vision, strategy, management, and leadership of the Heinemann organization.

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">As a member of the Heinemann executive leadership team, inform the direction of the overarching Heinemann organization.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Envision a new chapter for Heinemann PD Services that incorporates blended learning as well as coaching and consulting support offered in flexible increments for individual teachers, schools, and districts.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Build, lead, develop, and support the team that facilitates delivery of PD services:
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">    Lead the development and execution of a vision of national and international PD Services, incorporating synchronous and asynchronous online experiences, open enrollment events, and onsite consulting.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">    Build and support a team capable of delivering on an innovative array of PD services and support.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">    Support departmental managers in growing and developing their teams and foster managers’ own leadership capacity, growth, and advancement potential.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Oversee departmental financial planning (forecast/budget). Manage and maintain profit margins based on budget goals.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Support the Fountas & Pinnell Literacy Senior Instructional Designer in implementation of best practice for consultant delivery; monitor services delivery quality, demand planning, consultant capacity/knowledge, and other consultant performance metrics.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Resolve customer escalations/issues/concerns regarding implementation, delivery, and consultant quality.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Ensure adequate capacity for delivery of services.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Represent Heinemann PD services at conferences, multi-day institutes, and other events.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Innovate

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">In an ongoing partnership with Heinemann authors and thought leaders, seek new and dynamic ways to amplify the voices of current and emerging educational luminaries.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Conceptualize blended approaches that leverage both face-to-face and virtual experiences that support sustained learning and growth for teachers.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Work with Fountas & Pinnell Literacy Senior Instructional Designer and key stakeholders to develop new services offerings to meet the specialized professional learning needs of Fountas & Pinnell customers.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Direct the streamlining of systems and processes to increase efficiency and productivity.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Collaborate

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Work closely with PD Marketing on the promotion of all aspects of PD Services Delivery, including annual PD Catalog-Journal, outbound campaigns, Heinemann.com/PD and FountasandPinnell.com/PD web pages.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">In close coordination with IT Services staff, ensure that PD Services platforms and systems are operational and follow a path of continuous improvement
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Act as voice for department to leadership and across the Heinemann organization

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Foster departmental culture of engagement with an emphasis on purpose and performance
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Cultivate relationships with colleagues across departments that inform and elevate PD offerings
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Engage PD Services team in the tracking of emerging best practices in teacher professional learning

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Qualifications:

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Bachelor’s degree in job-related discipline; advanced degree highly desirable
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Practical experience in curriculum and instruction design and/or implementation
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">7+ years management experience, specifically with managing budgets and resources, and preferably with a geographically dispersed team
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Acts as a key driver and established expert on maintaining high performance while applying a change mindset to the planning, execution and monitoring of transformation.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Demonstrate a professional, cross-organization team-oriented, attitude
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Exhibit excellent leadership and team-building skills
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Demonstrate excellent organizational skills to manage a variety of systems and initiatives simultaneously
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Is willing to learn and manage multiple operational systems including Sales Force, and others
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Practice flexibility and implement innovative approaches to problem solving in challenging situations
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Demonstrates with expertise clear and effective verbal communications skills to collaborate, express ideas, request actions while working both internally and externally with all levels.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Serve on ad-hoc committees and accept special assignments willingly

 <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Physical Requirements:

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">10-20% travel both local and nationally
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Ability to work in cross functional teams as well as independently
