Sr Sourcing Manager

The Role:

The Sr. Sourcing Manager is responsible for strategically defining and implementing sourcing strategies for HMH product development work with suppliers who deliver quality product within budget and on schedule. This role will have direct responsibilities for identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers for services as well as establishing contractual terms and creating long-term relationships to implement our sourcing strategies. Additionally, this role shall support efforts to analyze our existing suppliers and drive initiatives to improve performance, reduce costs, and enable a more robust supply base.

 

Here's What You'll Do:

  • Analyze suppliers and corresponding data to develop and execute sourcing strategies that drive cost reduction opportunities, consumable standardization, and supplier consolidation.
  • Lead and support strategies and mitigation plans to support HMH objectives
  • Manage the vendor selection process by leveraging market research, vendor profiles, scorecards, and other tools to aid in the selection. Create, issue, and manage RFPs for evaluation and final vendor selection
  • Serves as liaison between HMH and supplier to establish and maintain positive vendor relationships using vendor management best practices throughout negotiation, contracting, onboarding and renewal.
  • Serves as point of escalation for supplier issues and managing resolution with appropriate functions and suppliers
  • Conduct routine vendor performance reviews to manage and improve performance of key suppliers
  • Develop, implement, and refine policies and procedures regarding the sourcing and management of suppliers.
  • Lead and support improvements to current procurement processes and procedures
  • Lead collaboration with stakeholders, executive leaders, and internal partners to understand business needs, establish requirements, scope, and criteria for sourcing projects and objectives
  • Manage internal customer expectations regarding timely execution of RFP release and processing of internal documents
  • Participate in the routine review of vendor payment terms, material groups, and vendor activity. Implement and develop required reports to track and monitor various areas of performance.
  • Analyze and conduct market research, assessing risk, gathering conditions and technical information that impact supply chain and competitive prices

Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or field
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in functions related to sourcing and procurement. EdTech industry experience is a plus
  • APICS CPIM / CSCP certification preferred
  • Proficient and experienced with ERP systems (SAP Preferred). Proficient with MS Excel
  • Hands-on team player willing to work in an environment where individual initiative, accountability, and professional maturity are required
  • Able to synthesize information into a presentation appropriate to the organizational level of the audience.
  • Must display strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail required
  • Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
