Our team works within agile scrum teams with collaborating with multiple stakeholders who love solving problems, building high quality products and services. We use a wide range of web technologies incorporating front end, automation scripting and AI/ML into our products integrating with many HMH created learning tools and services. As a Machine Learning Developer with the Digital Experience Development & Strategy team, you will develop ML algorithms and APIs that will bring cutting edge deep learning technology to consumers of HMH digital learning products where technology is silent and incorporates a joyful user experience. As a developer, you will learn on the job and contribute work on leading-edge solutions that will be used within internal systems as well as in Classrooms throughout the U.S.A. 

This requires strong technical and communication skills and the ability to build, measure and learn in collaboration with cross-functional team members in a lean agile workflow.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Math or related Engineering fields
  • Minimum of 2 + years of relative experience 
  • Strong working skills in using and designing ML algorithms 
  • Good understanding of front end and IoT development using Python, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3
  • Experience working with an Agile team on a large project(s)
  • Knowledge of AWS, Google AI or similar technologies
  • Knowledge of JSON, RestFul APIs, XML and enterprise architecture
  • Skilled in delivering quality products using the latest technologies with an ability to be productive in a wide range of environments, and comfortable understanding and adapting existing code
  • Likes to turn ideas into solutions, and making that code usable by your teammates, learners and instructors
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with fluency in English essential


Physical Requirements

  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
  • The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
