Job Title: Delivery Lead Level I (Core Development Delivery and Planning)

Location: Remote (may be performed from any state in the U.S.)

 

Day in the Life

The Delivery Lead with in the Core Solutions Business of HMH, facilitates the continuous delivery of value to HMH customers through coordination and collaboration with development teams by leveraging and applying relevant Lean Agile and delivery experiences to service, with oversight, digital-first solutions that solve specific market problems that enhancing the outcomes for Teachers and Students.

 

With guidance & coaching serves as a Delivery Lead & Scrum Master on a cross-functional team responsible for delivering content solutions, relying on agile methodologies and coaching to encourage the team to discover, use data analysis to test, develop, deliver, and iteratively optimize delivery solutions in a variety of media formats, managing vendors, SOW's, Jira tickets, stories, pushing content to platform environments.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Nurtures a culture of trust, transparency, and accountability within and across teams through clear, repeatable, and measurable processes. ​
  • Helps to define and steer the delivery journey for content experiences on HMH's teaching and learning solutions.    
  • Delivers value by contributing, encouraging and implementing fresh, innovative agile delivery solutions that enhance the team's effectiveness at delivering content experiences and process improvements.
  • Understands commitments, targets and scope of deliverables
  • With guidance and coaching from more senior members of the Delivery team, carries out delivery tasks such as managing vendors, SOW's, Jira tickets, stories, pushing content to platform environments etc.
  • Actively seeks to understand our business drivers and competitive landscape
  • Works flexibly across divisions, disciplines and Scrum Teams
  • With guidance and coaching serves as a Delivery Lead & Scrum Master on a cross-functional team responsible for delivering content solutions, relying on agile methodologies and coaching to encourage the team to discover, use data analysis to test, develop, deliver, and iteratively optimize delivery solutions in a variety of media formats.
  • Understands and applies agile thinking in the execution of Agile ceremonies in such a way as to ensure work is completed on time and is of high quality. Actively participates in retrospectives to identify and offer suggestions and opportunities for solutions to problems
  • Actively seeks to understand the product backlog and priorities of assignments, and fosters that understanding with Agile Leadership, PO's and within the team.
  • Uses Agile and scrum communication and observation techniques to uncover potential risks and works with teams to mitigate.
  • Maintains a "connected" mindset and looks for opportunities to align across business units where applicable.
  • Uses data from a variety of sources, to help inform decisions around team velocity and tracking to OKR's
  • Understands and works towards ensuring teams understand the rationale for the collection and monitoring of agreed Agile metrics.
  • Completes any required reports accurately and on time
  • Takes responsibility to seek out opportunities for deepening own knowledge and expertise in market environment, business acumen, process improvements and Lean/Agile industry progress.
  • Actively engages in the HMH Objective and Key Results (OKR) and Performance Management Process (PMP)

Definition of Success:

 

  • Iterative deliveries of solutions that meet market problem needs on time and budget as measured by product sales, customer testimonials, and platform usage dat
  • Successful delivery of products or projects as outlined in relevant OKRs
  • Meeting needs as measured by team surveys/retrospectives and other means of team feedback.
  • Demonstration of evidence to support own Performance Management goals.

 

What You'll Need:

 

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business or relevant technical field, is preferred
  • Experience in interactive project management, with Publishing industry technology products preferred
  • Experience in a Lean/Agile/Scrum environment
  • Proficient in using scrum planning tools. 
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiar with a variety of publishing and technology industry concepts, practices and procedures
  • Ability to motivate, support and understand different project teams
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on task completion is critical

 

Nice to Have:

 

  • Scrum Master certification
  • Experience in educational technology
  • Experience with JIRA

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing)

  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings

 

Salary: $63,000 - $74,000
