Purpose of the Role:  The National Content Specialist is responsible for the delivery of key tailored pre-sales presentations to customers in collaboration with sales, as well as the delivery of Getting Started training during the Back to School season.  The National Content Specialist also assists with the support of key sales pilots.  National Content Specialists are responsible for learning 1) sales presentations, 2) Getting Started training presentations, and 3) subject matter for a suite of HMH products and services.  The primary focus for this position is to provide support for strategic accounts and other accounts as assigned.  National Content Specialists assist with 1) presentation development in partnership with product development and marketing, 2) SWAT trainings and regional rollouts and 3) serve as the company’s leading content and pedagogical experts.

Job Responsibilities

  • To deliver customized sales presentations that utilize competitive language and are designed to address customer needs based on Value Selling questions. 
  • To partner with the Account Executive and engage in integrated solution selling conversations that include both program and practice based services.
  • To deliver Getting Started trainings tailored to customer and sales needs.
  • To learn two or more, subject area suites of programs plus services (i.e. math and science) as requested.
  • To deliver SWAT trainings and support regional rollouts of presentations.
  • To assist with presentation development in partnership with product marketing and management. 
  • To work with Account Executives, CSG managers, and Service managers to understand client needs and transfer this knowledge to pre-sales, sales, and post-sales presentations.
  • To appropriately adjust presentations to the needs and responses of the audience.
  • To handle customer questions and overcomes objections.
  • To utilize knowledge of competitors’ products to enhance product positioning.
  • To communicate information regarding customer needs to the Account Executive and manager in order to capitalize on sales opportunities and position product effectively.

  • Bachelor's Degree is a minimum with graduate degree preferred.
  • Five years of K-12 teaching experience in a subject area relevant to the position.
  • Outstanding presentation skills with ability to develop same skills in others.
  • Digital literacy is a requirement.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Collaboration skills.
  • Highly organized and able to transfer strategies into actions that deliver results.
  • Able to use MS Office Suite and Go To Meeting tools.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including weekends, and travel extensively up to 80%– driving and flying. 
  • Lift and move up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • A valid driver's license and clear driving record.
