What You Will Do:
The UX Team at HMHCO, part of Digital Product Design (DPD), focuses on building an intuitive digital experience for teachers, students, and administrators in and out of the classroom. We work to simplify and delight teachers and administrators while helping students to achieve success with the HMHCO product lines.
We are looking for a UX Copywriter with a proven track record of writing, editing, and testing the copy and instructions for software and platforms, in an iterative approach. You know that an application is just as good as the instructions, naming convention, and voice that guides the users through the entire experience. Clarity is very important to you while making sure any screen reader can follow you.
- Responsible to ensure web accessible language throughout the application. Supports the UX Designers and Engineers in defining the hierarchy for screen readers.
- Collaborate with UX designers, product owners, and engineering teams to plan, write and improve copy for web and mobile, including nav language, buttons, tables, instructional information and more (lots more).
- Define and participate in UX research to identify opportunities for copy enhancements and optimizations. Use metrics to inform and validate your work.
- Works with different teams on content hierarchy and naming conventions.
- Proofreads and copy edits assigned projects to ensure accuracy in grammar, messaging, and brand.
- Curate and add to HMH platform styles and standards guide to maintain consistency of content across platforms and products.
What You Will Need:
- 3+ years of experience in user experience/product writing with a bachelor’s degree
- Experience writing cohesive narratives across all digital touch points within the product (navigation, labels, microcopy, error messages, interaction flows, notifications, etc.)
- A portfolio of UX Writing work
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Ability to work independently and be self-directed (minimal guidance)
- Ability to collaborate with team to successfully deliver projects
- Excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Industry experience working within an agile software development environment
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency with user testing and A/B testing to inform and iterate messaging
- UX Design experience in tools such as Figma, Miro
- Working knowledge of Agile process and JIRA
- Working knowledge of Pendo
