Day in the Life

The State Adoption Senior Marketing Manager is responsible for creating, developing and implementing state and local adoption campaigns to support HMH revenue objectives within assigned area.


Under the guidance of the Senior Director of State Adoption Marketing Strategy, the position collaborates and works in partnership with colleagues across the company to ensure HMH solutions are positioned appropriately to meet state-called instructional materials bids, customer issues, and competitive market trends. The Sr. Marketing Manager follows best practices in creating campaigns with the most effective tactics and channels to achieve results.


High level summary and Realistic Preview of Job:

  • Engages in strategy-based marketing campaign planning that drives toward revenue goals for assigned state, regional and local area
  • Develop state adoption strategic marketing plans and drive execution across multiple channels to meet sales objectives including prework through local campaigns.
  • Leverage multiple marketing tactics and assets, including digital and print collateral, social media, web presence, email, inside sales plans, specialized proposals, prospect events, presentations, etc.
  • Adapt national messaging and targeted assets, when needed, to position for designated state market.
  • Determine, then leverage HMH competitive differentiators to strengthen our position in targeted adoption campaigns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure campaign objectives align with targeted HMH goals.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the internal tools and applications utilized by HMH.
  • Demonstrate understanding of products and their place in the market


What You Need to be Successful:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 years marketing, sales and/or education industry experience
  • Experience with traditional and digital marketing channels, including social media strategies and analytics
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, Salesforce, SharePoint
  • Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and writing skills


Nice to Have (Preferred, but not necessary)

  • Minimum 5 years marketing, sales and/or education industry experience
  • Marketing or Education Degree Preferred
  • Craft or Wordpress CMS
  • Experience Teaching

Physical Requirements:

  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
  • The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.


Benefits and Salary Range:

Salary Range: $72,000 to $90,000. Our salary ranges are based on national averages.  We have wide ranges so we can be flexible and determine compensation based on a number of factors including the candidate’s skills, experience, education and location.
