ROLE SUMMARY

The Senior Product Marketing Manager, 6-12 Literacy helps to develop and execute the go-to-market strategy and of HMH's core literature/ELA instructional materials, including existing and new programs in the product portfolio’s development pipeline.

 

A leader by nature, the Senior Product Marketing Manager exudes the daily energy and optimism needed to navigate today’s highly complex, challenging, and competitive literacy market by:

  • Providing customer-focused input that informs development of world-class core SaaS instructional solutions for literature/ELA educators in grades 6-12
  • Effectively executing engaging go-to-market plans that launch and promote HMH’s core, comprehensive reading and literature programs
  • Working across the organization to enable the department to fully contribute to the delivery of cross-functional/department business objectives, including marketing integrated solutions that enhance the core and implementing a customer success/retention strategy
  • Developing, communicating, and implementing business plans, objectives, and budgets to achieve department results, primarily through cross-functional collaboration
  • Coaching junior colleagues and department members

 

The Senior Product Marketing Manager role and responsibilities are similar to those of the Product Marketing Manager, but it is expected that this contributor possess a deeper experience and knowledge of the market and trends and demonstrates understanding of how to navigate the internal organization to support the field in a wider variety of ways.

 

The Senior Product Marketing Manager receives both strategic and operational direction from the Senior Director, Product Marketing, K-12 Literacy.

 

Partners with Product Management & Strategy, Field Sales Marketing, Content Specialists Group, Sales Enablement, Sales, Finance, Global Supply Chain, the /agency and other departments within the marketing organization.

 

 

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree required

Minimum of three years' experience in EdTech/ SaaS within marketing, or product management roles, with proven experience in creating and executing innovative marketing campaigns through multiple channels that drive demand

Provides customer-focused input to inform the development of world-class reading/literature/ELA instructional soutions from an SaaS perspective. Communicates differentiated benefits of such solutions through strategic planning and execution of marketing activities.

MARKETING STRATEGY AND EXECUTION

Recommends marketing and promotional plans and activities based on launch strategy as identified by market segmentation. Implements plans as directed, monitors progress of existing marketing plans using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and adjusts plans and execution as needed. Analyze trends in marketing strategy and make suggestions for shifts in execution. Develop innovative approaches to strategy and execution.

 

Implements strategic marketing communication tasks and projects. Represents products as a Subject Matter Expert when collaborating with or training cross-functional teams. Supports and maintains product marketing strategic plans and innovative marketing campaigns for print and SaaS products to drive demand. The Senior Product Marketing Manager can and will often manage key aspects of campaigns or plans independently.

CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT/ RETENTION AND RENEWAL

Creates a brand experience that engages and influences customers through personalized connections and ultimately converts mindshare into market share. Uses data to gauge effectiveness of marketing plans and promotional campaigns. Promotes product lines at national exhibits in ways that drive customer engagement. Continues to develop solid understanding of how districts adopt HMH SaaS programs, including customer purchasing behavior, their purchase criteria—including the influence of current Curriculum Frameworks and Standards—and how to concisely articulate criteria coverage that connects to our programs, while eliciting and maintaining customer interest in the program. Provides accurate and timely strategic support for sales teams in order to drive revenue. Develops and drives the customer engagement and retention strategy for the portfolio.

Connects marketing strategies to cross-discipline and cross-company programs, implementing cohesive and consistent messaging that enhances the portfolio message and collection of brands to enhance the core.

COMMUNICATION

Maintains strong, ongoing channels of communication with sales, marketing, and product development teams to ensure success. Maintains strong relationships with sales teams to ensure integrity in the Sales process with the core message and positioning of assigned products. Provides training, collateral, competitive insight, and strategic advice for key markets. Leverage data and analysis to determine next steps in communication tactics. Be knowledgeable in marketing SaaS products in a B2B distribution model.
