What you will do:

As a Manager within the DevOps Department, you will play a critical role as a hands-on technical leader while driving operational excellence and innovation. You will be responsible for the following key duties:


Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of DevOps developers and support engineers, ensuring high levels of internal customer satisfaction and cost-effective service delivery.
  • Manage and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement while driving technical excellence across the team.
  • Attract, recruit, coach, and retain top talent within DevOps teams to meet current and future organizational goals.

 

Technical Responsibilities and Accountability

  • Actively contribute as a hands-on technical leader, guiding and participating in critical infrastructure activities, including cloud management, system automation, and CI/CD pipeline development.
  • Take ownership of DevOps problem & demand management, responding to and prioritizing planned and unplanned cloud infrastructure demands, incidents, and issues. Partner closely with Infra Engineering, engineering teams, product teams, and SRE teams.
  • Oversee and ensure the reliability of Cloud and non-Cloud infrastructure including:
  • Infrastructure for both current and legacy systems.
  • Compliance & Auditing, patching, user access management, and OS/software updates and deprecation.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop reliable, scalable, and highly available infrastructure solutions, driving a focus on security and operational excellence.

 

Hands-on Delivery and Innovation

  • Direct and guide the team to:
  • Leverage deep technical expertise to analyze and improve existing infrastructure, identifying and addressing systemic issues and bottlenecks.
  • Prioritize and resolve critical incidents, driving root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.
  • Enable and support self-serve code and configuration deployments for engineering teams by building, maintaining, and enhancing the right tools and automation processes.
  • Take ownership of designing and implementing robust cloud infrastructure solutions with a focus on AWS, ensuring reliability, security, and performance at scale.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex server, application, and performance issues, working closely with Agile development teams and business stakeholders to minimize disruptions.

 

Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement

  • Drive the adoption of best practices in CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and monitoring/observability tools.
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure costs, performance, and availability by leveraging data-driven decision-making and automation.
  • Lead key initiatives to modernize infrastructure processes, tooling, and platforms to support business agility and scalability.
  • Champion a DevOps culture across the organization, fostering collaboration between development, operations, and other key stakeholders.


Who you are:

  • A proven leader with experience managing DevOps teams in complex cloud and on-prem environments.
  • A hands-on technical manager with expertise in AWS, CI/CD pipelines, IaC (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and automation tools.
  • Passionate about driving operational excellence and delivering solutions that improve scalability, efficiency, and reliability.
  • A strong problem solver who thrives in high-pressure situations and can effectively prioritize and resolve complex issues.
  • Collaborative and customer-focused, with the ability to work seamlessly across teams and drive alignment.


What you’ll need:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience on DevOps
  • At least 2 years of people management experience
  • Experience managing & collaborating with global & co-located team members
  • Technical experience and understanding in a variety of technologies, including:
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS (EC2, IAM, EKS, etc.), Terraform Enterprise, Docker, Kubernetes, Aurora, Mesos, HashiCorp Vault & Consul.
  • Monitoring & Observability: Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus.
  • APIs & Frameworks: Apollo, Hasura, GraphQL.
  • Software & Microservices: Spring, Java, NodeJS, React, Koa, Express.js.
