The Director, Product Marketing for Assessment is responsible for establishing the customer-centric vision that translates into marketing and go to market sales strategies. This vision evolves through collaboration across functional groups, including Executive Marketing Leadership, Product Management and Strategy, Learning Architects, Field Sales Marketing, Core Product Marketing, Market Research & Intelligence, Creative teams in the agency, and Core, SIS and Integrated Account Executives. 

 

As the SIS, Director, Product Marketing Assessment, you will be responsible for the national go-to-market, sales strategy and planning, buyer journey, product positioning and messaging, product launch, overall communication strategy and sales enablement. You will share responsibility of reaching annual revenue goals with sales, and product management & strategy.

 

The ultimate goal is to convert mind share into market share, utilizing strategies that capture customer interest, transform interest into engagement, and convert engagement into buying behaviors. Developing winning strategies and tactics will heavily rely upon possessing subject matter expertise in the K-12 educational assessment market.

 

The candidate for this position will utilize creative tactics across marketing channels, with a strong focus on content marketing, skillfully developing creative, engaging messaging that speaks directly to the market, and tailoring messaging to key market segments.

  • Develop and create marketing plans that support the positioning, messaging and collateral around product differentiators, verticals, and buyer behavior to inform awareness, lead Generation, partner retention, loyalty and sales efforts.
  • Ensure that market-facing messaging articulates our value propositions through a variety of channels and tactics, including but not limited to pitch decks, digital and websites, talking points, FAQs, marketing assets, articles, blogs, reference guides, sales scripts, etc. and periodically deliver presentations to partner and prospect audiences.
  • Work closely with Product Management & Strategy, on product road map, product enhancements, Win/Loss Analysis, competitive analysis, pricing & configuration, developing market context and value on new features and releases, org and sales training, content creation, etc. Conduct and collaborate on market sizing and opportunity analysis for new products, solutions and services.
  • Collaborate with core product marketing to ensure alignment and sales strategy around core instructional program and marketing service team members responsible for digital, demand gen, events, PR, etc., to create annual and quarterly marketing plans and campaigns that achieve or exceeds sales objectives.
  • Develop and drive sales enablement strategies to inform and train the field and sales teams on new and updated solutions and services.
  • Translate insights from research, competitive analysis and data into marketing strategies, messaging and differentiated content that improves awareness and engagement with prospects and partners.

Required:

  • Minimum of 8 years of marketing experience
  • Minimum of 5 years in educational assessment publishing (sales or marketing)
  • Bachelor's degree
  • SaaS product, B2B market experience preferred
  • Travel approximately 12x per year

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven track record in crafting compelling brand and product positioning & messaging
  • Strong background in developing product marketing plans and go-to-market strategies in complex, multifaceted market environments where there are competitive pressures
  • Has an ability to influence multiple stakeholders across an organization, including product management, digital and channel marketing, sales, partner success and services, and establish credibility as the market expert.
  • Experience in competitive and market analysis; market sizing and competitive positioning
  • Skills in pricing, forecasting, and driving achievement of key metrics in a SaaS business environment
  • Hands-on ability to create a range of marketing assets for sales enablement, campaigns and other content needs related to products
  • Analytical skills in qualitative & quantitative product and industry research

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing) for 4+ hours.
  • The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
